Who

On November 13, 2003, Back to the Bible launched a new division of its ministry called The Bible Literacy Center (BLC).  Here, researchers are conducting surveys and gathering data about Bible reading habits and hindrances. The question we are addressing is simple:  "Why do so many people own Bibles and so few read them?"

The BLC was dedicated to the memory of Clarence W. Hottel, Sr. who had a deep passion to see men and women everywhere engaged in a meaningful relationship with God. Mr. Hottel knew that kind of relationship could only happen when a person reads his or her Bible.

The organization soon expanded beyond the research done by the BLC into the Center for Bible Engagement (CBE) which has become the major world center addressing both Bible illiteracy and Bible engagement. As the CBE continues to collect and analyze data, the results are shared with pastors, parents and other Christian leaders to allow them to influence the next generation to become fully engaged in God's Word.
